DRAPER, G.C. [of Hucknall]
Private, 2nd Grenadiers
From The Hucknall Dispatch, 3rd December 1914:-
"In the course of a letter addressed to us Private G.C. Draper states that their battalion - the 2nd Grenadiers - has had a stiff time, but they never heard the boys grumble as regards fighting or food. They stuck it well in the trenches for 23 days up to the knees in water. Draper adds that the churches are all in ruins, but, strange to say, the crucifixes were untouched".
