Clarborough in Nottinghamshire, a little way to the north of Retford

By Greg Herdman

Log Books of Clarborough School are held by Nottinghamshire Archives but recently transcripts of some of the contents of these books have been prepared and are available here. (Click on the 'Downloads' option below).

These transcripts are a very personal selection based on a) value to local and family historians, and b) those containing interesting (or amusing) historical perspectives.

The Log Books reveal a school opening in May 1871 but early Log Book entries contain enticing indications that an earlier, possibly Church school, had predated 1871.

The Victorian building still stands in Church Lane, adjacent to the Parish Church of St.John the Baptist but is no longer in use following opening of a new school building in September 2008.
