55 pages and 28 colour and black and white photos many photographed for the first time, gives full details on the history of each sites and how to find them. A total to 94 sites are included, of which full details are given are listed.

The books claims to have rediscovered two lost or largely forgotten sites – Mansfield’s St. Mary’s Well or Bath Spring and what the author believes to be Southwell’s Lord’s Well, and uncovers a number of sites via old records which are not included elsewhere (such as Harte’s 2008 work on English Holy Wells). There is also a four page inventory of ancient well names and full bibliography.
