No.752 Lance Sergeant Arthur Cyril Sheppard DCM was the son of Arthur and Fanny E. Sheppard of Southwell, Nottinghamshire.

Arthur Cyril Sheppard was born at Woodhouse Eves on Station Lane in Southwell in 1889, but by the time he joined the Sherwood Foresters the family's address is given as Waterloo House in Southwell.  Prior to enlistment he worked at Carey's lace factory in the town.

Arthur Cyril Sheppard embarked for France on 2nd March 1915, and was subsequently awarded the 1915 Star, British War and Victory medals and the DCM (Distinguished Conduct Medal).

He died on 22nd November, 1915, aged 26
