Whilst we do not even begin to attempt to emulate Cornelius Brown, it is hoped that this book will open a brief window into Newark's evolution over time, and give a tantalising hint to its historical story.
We have tried to show the progression of some of Newark's landmarks - a few not commonly seen, or even known about - covering a period from the mid-nineteenth century to the 1970s.  Some views have improved, others not, but all have been changed by the progression of time.
