On the Trail

Footsteps Round Your Heritage

By Ruth Imeson

A competition for children, families and youth organisations to create a ‘Heritage Trail’ that brings your street, your village or town ‘to life’.

The Trails should follow a route around a specific area of Nottinghamshire or follow a particular theme and must incorporate the local history/heritage of the area or as the basis for the chosen theme.

What can the buildings, street names, physical features or fields tell us about your area or how they can illustrate your theme?  Why is ‘your place’ or theme important?  Tell us, we would like to hear about it. Perhaps you could ask people in your area how it has changed or what they think of it today?  Make it all into a Trail that others could follow…bring it to life through text, images, words, illustration, photographs or video.

You can carry out research at Nottinghamshire Archives or in your local library to find out more about your area or the background to your theme.
