The old meadows

My name was Dawn power.I use to live at 167 Rupert street,meadlows.I have just turned 60 last month.when I was 7to 8 years old I attended Bosworth rd school then went on to Trent bridge at the age of 11.I was in Miss Crabtree,s class also murphy.I can,t remembe any of the names of any child that was in my class.I have two brothers Paul power who is 62 and Nigel who is 56.we attended St Georges church on a regular basis.It would be nice to know if anyone remembers me and my family.my mam,s name is June,and dad name is peter power.I can remember the name Steven payne,also livening in Rupert street,the name,s Deborah Cook,Lavina Murphy,somebody with the surname Tooby.In 1970 wheni was 11 me and my family went to live in the Rhondda valley South Wales,and that is where we still live.I have fond memories of the old meadows,and shopping on ArkWright street,and going to woolworth in the city.such happy time,s Dawn Thomas (nee power)

I lived at 37 Bruce Grove , right next to an electrical power station.  Does anyone remember that street?  Mr Duncan had the grocery shop on one corner, green grocery on the other corner, pub on another corner and a rag n bone yard another corner.  I’ve forgotten street names except maybe Kirby street, arkwright st.  They built the new school the meadows a block behind us, well depending which way u looked.  I didnt know north, south directions.  We always walked up to trent bridge.
we were the last to leave the street I think as they began demoing around us??

My mum is Lavina Murphy who lived on rupert street the meadows and she was friends with a Deb Wilcoks, she also went to Bosworth,  it must be my mum you can remember. If you would like to get in touch with her, please email the website administrator at ournottinghamshire@gmail.com

Hi Dawn,

I hope you see this, I'm Lavina Murphy and I remember Christine Tooby with all the kids and I think you mean Deborah Wilcox. I can't believe you mentioned Bosworth Junior school I loved it there and Woolworths. It would be lovely to reminisce, specially getting the bath in on a Sunday night lol Please get in touch it would be great to hear from someone from the Old Meadows.
