Nottingham Castle may be famous in the stories of Robin Hood, but did you know there were once over 20 more castles in Nottinghamshire?

The castles at Nottingham and Newark are well known in Nottinghamshire, but archaeologist James Wright has identified a further 20 that once existed in the county.  Many are still traceable in the landscape and may still be visited (with permission).  This book takes an overview of the historical development of castles, provides a gazetteer of all presently known Nottinghamshire castles, and includes simple directions on how to visit those that remain.
