A slight correction is needed with regard to the press release. I was a child during World War 2, not World War 1. I remember the bombing. I remember the victory celebrations. I remember the great hope we had when the United Nations was formed that this would be an end to all wars. They were supposed to be outlawed. International Disputes were to be decided by negotiation not mass murders.   The cold war killed that hope, but now there is a possibility that this could be true again. If only enough people demand this. National Armies could be converted into regiments of soldiers serving under the UN colours, and working as Peacekeepers and Disaster Relief workers. This would stop the need for armed intervention by individual states. If only the people who provided all the poppies on Armistice Day could campaign for this.

My book is about the tragedy of civil war in England. Civil Wars are now catching fire in many countries across the world. The dangers is that the big powers will be drawn in and this will escalate the system. What we need is the reform of the UN, so that we have a new style of Security Council, which is able to defuse the escalation.  JOIN THE UNITED NATIONS  ASSOCIATION. www.una.org.uk
