Worksop Market 2011

Worksop has had a market since 1296, no site was provided until 1851.

The corn exchange purchased and cleared the piece of land next to the Town Hall building.

Before 1851 stalls straggled along Bridge Street, cluttering the Towns main thoroughfare. The situation altered when the provisional market was moved from the street onto the cleared space.

After 160 years the Worksop Market as we know it today, has moved back down to the Towns main thoroughfare, another piece of Worksop’s History lost.
