Retford Memories with Boiled Sweets

The confectionary business of Mrs Harriet Shepherd in Thrumpton Lane closed down during the First World War.

Mr.J. Cook and others were employed in making boiled sweets and many of these products were sold wholesale to shops in Retford and also in Worksop, Warsop, Shirebrook etc.

Mrs Shephens had a stall in the market place on Saturdays directly opposite the International Stores.  On an adjoining stall was a Miss Marshall - one of her specialisms being mint humbugs
