John Green of Mansfield

John Green was a native of Mansfield where he traded as an ironmonger.

He is reported to have made two inventions of importance to the cotton spinning trade, viz the Inclined Plane movement of the spindle, and the Cone movement.

This attribution comes from a bokk published anonyomously in 1850 entitled A Visit to Sherwood Forest (Mansfield: Collinson, 1850, p.24)
