Ruddington

Can you help identify this town/village?

Editor's Note:  We first featured this photo on OurNotts as a 'mystery' as we were uncertain where it was.  It has since been identified as Ruddington by one of our correspondents (see bottom of page).  Many thanks to Stuart Naylor for this:  His identification has enabled West Bridgford Library who originally posted the picture, to now locate it properly in their collection of local photos.

The original query posted by West Bridgfor Library ran as follows

The location of this photo might be in the south-east area of Notts (eg Rushcliffe borough):  But can you help identify the town shown?

Is that a Methodist church or Salvation Army hall with the brickwork picked out in white?

Looks like its undergoing some redevelopment - and the cars (a Ford Cortima Mk.1) could suggest the 1960s?

If you have any thoughts, please leave a Comment via the link at the bottom of this page.  Thank you.

This is the Methodist chapel on the corner of Church Street and Charles Street in Ruddington. The photographer is standing near the Old Bakery on Shaw Street.

Looks like the present Library is being built in the centre of the picture.
