8hp JAP V-twin

A Notts Motorcycle produced in 1910

As far as is known the sole reference to a motorcycle of this make appears in The British Motorcycle Directory (Bacon & Hallworth, Crowood Press 2004) -

This machine, ridden by E.B. Ware, ran at Brooklands in April 1910.  It had a 8hp JAP V-twin engine and a P and M two-speed gear and chain drive.

If you search Google under 'Kings Own motorcycle' you get a hit on Ebay for "A Vintage Lucas N.341 Kings Own motorcycle front acetylene lamp" which was sold in 2013.  The description of the lamp mentions a name plate or badge on the back which says 'Kings Own' although the seller did not know whether this related to the make of motorcycle it came off, or just the name of the style of lamp.  How about searching the Lucas archives

Thanks for your suggestion, Martin.  I'm currently seeing how one might access any Lucas archives that survive.
