Halloughton - Underground passages and a Nunnery?

Writing in 1910, Everard Guilford (pp.93-94)*said of Halloughton:-

"Thanks to guide books it has been associated with ghostly and unsavoury stories of a nunnery here, underground passages to Thurgarton Priory, and infants' skeletons.  There never was a nunnery here and the lie of the land is not at all favourable to underground passages"
