Tom Shipside, writing in his book on Oxton, "I Lived in a Village" (Privately printed, Woolston Book Co., Nottingham, 1956, p.73) says:-

"I understand (although I never saw them) that the old village stocks and whipping post were fixed near the entrance of the Manor House opposite the parish church.  They are indicated on the oldest maps of the area"
